GENERAL INFORMATION

Q: Where is the New Mexico State Fair located?

A: The New Mexico State Fair is located at Expo New Mexico, 300 San Pedro Blvd. N.E. The best way to get here is to take I-40 and exit at San Mateo or Louisiana exit, follow the directions to Expo New Mexico.

Q: What are the 2010 State Fair dates?

A: 2010 State Fair dates are Friday, September 10 through Sunday, September 26, closed Mondays and Tuesdays.

 

Q: Will any events or shows take place on Mondays and Tuesdays?

A: Yes. The 2010 New Mexico State Fair will be officially closed on Mondays and Tuesdays but the livestock shows that normally take place on Mondays and Tuesdays will continue to happen as scheduled. However, the horse competitions normally scheduled on those days will have an abbreviated schedule. Please check the particular breed for their show days. Live horseracing will also take place on Mondays and Tuesdays as well as every other day of the 2010 State Fair.

  

Q: How do I get into the Fairgrounds for horse and livestock shows on Mondays and Tuesdays?

A: You can access the Fairgrounds for horse and livestock shows on Mondays and Tuesdays through Gate 8 (Louisiana just south of Lomas).

 

Q: Will there be a parking fee if I come for the horse and livestock shows on Mondays and Tuesdays?

A: Yes. There will be a parking fee of $7 at the Gate 8 entrance on Mondays and Tuesdays. However, there will be no Gate Admission charge for livestock and horse events taking place on Mondays and Tuesdays.

 

Q: Will the Downs Racetrack and Casino be open on Mondays and Tuesdays?

A: Yes. The Downs Racetrack and Casino will be open on Mondays and Tuesdays throughout the run of the 2010 State Fair, with live horseracing and gaming every day. Enter at Gate 1 (Central just west of Louisiana).

 

Q: What day is the State Fair Parade?

A: The parade is on Saturday September 11, 2010

 

Q: What time does the Parade start?

A: The Parade begins at 8:45am at the corner of Louisiana and Central and proceeds east to approximately Eubank.

 

Q: Where does one apply for employment for the Fair?

A: You can apply at the Labor Trailer located inside Gate 4 on San Pedro.

 

Q: Will there be a Park and Ride during the fair?

A: At the present time, the City of Albuquerque has elected not to provide Park & Ride service due to financial restraints..

 

Q: Where is the parking located on the Fairground, what gates are used for parking?

A:          General Parking is available at:

Gate 1: Central – just west of Louisiana

Gate 8: Louisiana just south of Lomas

Gate 9: Louisiana near Central

 

Q: Where is the handicap parking located?

A: Handicap parking is available at all general public parking lots.

 

Q: Are wheelchairs available for rent, what is the fee and where are they located?

A: Wheelchairs can be rented at two locations: the infield tunnel entrance, south of Tingley Coliseum and at Gate 1. Rentals require a driver’s license and deposit.

 

Q: Are strollers available for rent, what is the fee and where are they located?

A: Strollers can be rented at two locations: the infield tunnel entrance, south of Tingley Coliseum and at Gate1. Rentals require a driver’s license and deposit.

HOURS

Q: What are the hours of operation at the Entertainment Stages?

A: Live entertainment takes place at Spanish and Indian Villages, the Alice K. Hoppes African American Pavilion and the New Mexico State Fair Main Stage from noon to 9 p.m. every Sunday through Thursday, and from noon to 10  p.m. every Friday and Saturday during Fair.

 

Q: What are the midway carnival hours?

A: The midway carnival operates from approximately noon to 9 p.m. every Wednesday and Thursday, and approximately 11 a.m.  to midnight every Friday, Saturday and Sunday during Fair. Opening and closing times are subject to change.

 

Q: What are Exhibit Building hours?

A: Exhibit buildings are open daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. Open 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.

 

Q: What are the hours at the Manuel Lujan Exhibit Complex?

A: The Lujan Complex is open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. Open 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.

 

 

PRICES/DISCOUNTS

Q: How much is admission? For adults/children and senior citizens

A: Admission is just $7.00 for adults, $5.00 for senior citizens and children 3-12 Children under 3 are free.

 

Q: How much is parking?

 A: Parking is $7 this year.

 

Q: How much are Daily Ride Passes?

A: Daily Ride passes are $15 on Wednesdays and Thursdays, $20 each on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays throughout the Fair.

 

Q: Where can the Daily Ride Passes be purchased at the Fair?

A: Daily Ride Passes can be purchased at Murphy Brothers kiosks on the Midway.

 

Q: Are season admission passes available for the Fair, what is the price of the pass?

A: No.

 

Q: How much is admission for Senior Citizens?

A: The price for Seniors 62 and older is $5.00

 

Q: What day is dollar day?

A: There will be no dollar day this year. For 2010, the Fair has decreased admission costs to their lowest rates since 2007.

 

Q: What are the discounts for this year’s Fair?

A: There are no discount days at this year’s Fair. The Fair has lowered daily admission to 2007 prices.

 

Q: Are there any group discounts?

A: There are group discounts of 25 or more.

 

Q: Where can I purchase Rodeo/Concert tickets?

A: You can purchase tickets at www.Ticketmaster.com, by phone at 505-883-7800 or at any Smith’s Food and Drug location.  The Tingley Box Office will be open beginning Tuesday, September 7th.

 

You can also purchase tickets in person on the fairgrounds beginning July 31st at the Gate 4 Box Office Windows between 10AM and 2PM,  Monday through Saturday until September 4th. Closed Labor Day.

 

Q: How much are the Rodeo tickets?

A: The price of Rodeo tickets are $15 bench seats, $24 chairback seats and $34 box seats

 

Q: Does the price of the Concert/Rodeo ticket include admission to the Fair?

A: Admission is included if tickets are purchased by August 31, 2010.

 

Q: Do you take credit cards for the purchase Concert/Rodeo tickets?

A: We accept credit cards and cash only.

PUBLIC SAFETY, LOST PERSON/BELONGINGS

Q: What kind of security personnel patrol the Fair?

A: The Fair contracts with the New Mexico State Police Department (uniformed and plainclothes) and private security firms to ensure the safest environment possible for staff and patrons.

 

Q: Where do I report lost or missing persons/belongings and other security concerns?

A: You may approach any State Fair employee, uniformed police or security officer or report to the Public Safety Office located in the building to the South of the Box Car Stage just inside the Pedestrian Entrance at Gate 4.

 

Q: What if I need medical attention?

A: Call 911 in case of ANY emergency. A first aid center is located at the southwest corner of the Midway entrance.

 

CONCESSIONS

Q: How do I apply for a booth to sell food and drinks or to sell or promote a non-food service or product?

A: Applications are available online or available at the Concessions Office located on the Expo New Mexico grounds. Applications must be turned in by July 31. An application submission does not guarantee that an exhibitor or vendor will receive space. After all applications are received, they will be reviewed. Q: When is the deadline to enter items in the 2010 Fair?

A: Deadlines to enter items in the 2010 Fair vary. Some entries are accepted beginning in early summer with pre-Fair deadlines, while others are accepted throughout the Fair. Log on to www.ExpoNM.com, click on “State Fair,” then “The Premium Book and Entry Forms” or call the Entry Department at 222-9712 for additional information on specific entry deadlines.

 

Q: How do I enter an item in the Fair?

A: Because there are several categories of entry at the New Mexico State Fair, entry forms vary. To download an entry form for your specific category, log on to www.ExpoNM.com, click on “State Fair,” then “The Premium Book and Entry Forms” or call the Entry Department at 222-9712 for more information. 

 

Q: How can I get a Premium Book?

A: Premium Books outline specific rules and regulations for contests. The 2010 State Fair Premium Book is available electronically only at www.ExpoNM.com

HORSE/AGRICULTURE

Q: Do you have accommodations for horses?

A: Yes. Our horse stalls are available for rent. Bedding (wood shavings) is also available. Call the Horse Department before you arrive for prices and to ensure that we have space available.

 

Q: When is the Junior Livestock Sale?

A: Friday, September 17 beginning at 1 p.m. in the Beef Barn.
