PREPARE TO FAIR:  GOT TALENT?

            ALBUQUERQUE—August 29, 2007—The New Mexico State Fair, the New Mexico Music Commission and the City of Albuquerque are teaming up again to sponsor the State Fair Talent Showcase during “the biggest show in New Mexico!”

            On Sunday, September 16th, at the Ford “Bold Moves” Stage, the third  annual talent showcase will give individual performers and groups the opportunity to compete in five music categories:   Country/Folk; Traditional/World/Ethnic; Blues/Jazz/Gospel; Hip Hop/Rap; and Rock/Alternative/Indie.  A winner from each category will be chosen. 

            Prizes include $500 for each category winner, studio recording time, tee-shirt packages, merchandise from Music Go Round, Owl Green Music and other local businesses, as well as prospective paid performance opportunities at upcoming City of Albuquerque events.  According to Nancy Laflin, Executive Director of the state’s music commission, “This is an excellent opportunity for selected musicians to perform in front of a large audience, network and record in a professional studio.”
