PREPARE TO FAIR:  SENIOR DAY

ALBUQUERQUE—August, 2007—In recognition of those who have been married 50 years or longer, the New Mexico State Fair sponsors an annual Golden Age Celebration during the fair.

This year’s event takes place on “Senior Day,” Monday, September 17th, and couples and individuals 65 years or older are invited to participate in a program starting at 11:00 a.m. on the Happy Hour Stage by the boxcars.   Longtime radio personality Bill Previtti will emcee the proceedings with entertainment provided by popular local singer Roger Burns on keyboard.  Following the Golden Age celebration, the Shrine Concert Band will perform at noon across the Avenue of the Governors at the Ford Bold Moves Stage.  On Senior Day admission to the grounds is $3.00 for fairgoers 65 years or older.

Awards will be presented in the following categories:

Class #1 – Couple who has been married the longest

Class #2 – Individual with the most living grandchildren

Class #3 – Individual residing the longest in present location

Class #4 – Individual who came from the longest distance to attend the fair

Class #5 – Senior, Man

Class #6 – Senior, Woman

And this year the State Fair itself is celebrating two golden anniversaries – both Tingley Coliseum and the Bolack B-Square Ranch display are 50 years old!
