PREPARE TO FAIR: FARM HANDS NEEDED!
ALBUQUERQUE—August 28, 2007—One of the popular areas for youngsters at the “biggest show in New Mexico” – the State Fair – is McDonald’s Farm which brings the farm experience to life for city kids!
And in order to make that experience a reality, volunteers are needed to help with everything from welcoming visitors, to leading tours around the farm, to becoming experts on different features. Students can even earn community service credit.
Volunteers receive hands-on training and are asked to work a four-hour shift sometime during the 17-day fair. “Besides a lot of fun, they’ll receive a State Fair day pass, a McDonald’s Value Meal coupon, a JR’s BBQ meal ticket and an ABQ Ride transit pass,” says Kathy Duffy, Marketing Director for Expo New Mexico.
Some of the special days at McDonald’s Farm this year are Southwest Dairy Day on Wednesday, September 19th, and Environmental Day on Friday, September 21st. The farm experience includes gathering eggs, picking vegetables, fruits and pecans, riding a tractor, milking cows and “wonderful photo ops to treasure for a lifetime,” adds Kathy.
For more information about volunteering, please contact Abel Sedillo at 836-1823 or Maxine Velasquez at 222-9700, ext. 274.
The State Fair starts on Friday, September 7th, and runs through Sunday, September 23rd. For further information about the fair, visit www.exponm.com or call 222-9700.
