PREPARE TO FAIR: FAIRGROUNDS SEES GREEN!
ALBUQUERQUE—August 21, 2007—“I love dirt!” says Connie Elmore, landscape project director for Expo New Mexico, who’s also known as “The Flower Lady.”
And she’s moved a lot of dirt – and boulders! – in order to accomplish the various landscaping projects that have taken place throughout the fairgrounds for the enjoyment of visitors year-round: new sod, concrete planters and pots, bird baths, benches, plants, trees and even Redneck worms! And she emphasizes that she “couldn’t do any of this without the statewide support of individuals and businesses throughout the year who support our projects!”
Those supporters include American Classifieds of Farmington; Perfection Buick/Pontiac GMC/Isuzu of Santa Fe and Farmington; Potteryland of Albuquerque; C & P Statuary of Bosque Farms; Ross Gardens of Albuquerque and Estancia; the Iris Society, the New Mexico Gourd Society, the Albuquerque Garden Center, the Albuquerque Daylily Society, the Albuquerque Biological Park; the Ko Shari Garden Club; Southwest Outdoor Electric, Inc., of Albuquerque; and individuals like Tommy Bolack, Ruth Bronson, Frances Richardson, Donna

Redmond, Jim and Bertha Graham, Michael and Carolyn Kittredge, Louise Leonard, Donna and Richard Peck, and, last but not least, Connie herself and husband Hubbard Elmore.
And during the New Mexico State Fair – which starts on Friday, September 7th and runs through Sunday, September 23rd – Connie and her helpers also provide the indoor floral decorations for the buildings that are in use during the fair.
