PREPARE TO FAIR: SCHOOL DAYS ARE COOL DAYS AT THE FAIR!
ALBUQUERQUE—August 7, 2007—School will be in session at the 70th annual New Mexico State Fair! The “biggest show in New Mexico” starts September 7th and runs through September 23rd and designated “School Days” this year are Monday, Sept. 10th and Sept. 17th, and Tuesday, Sept. 11th and Sept. 18th.
As part of an organized fieldtrip, students accompanied by chaperones or escorts will be admitted to the State Fair for free and Gov. Bill Richardson encourages educators to avail themselves of the School Days Program saying “the program is an excellent opportunity for your students to experience the diverse culture of our great state. [It] provides a safe and nurturing environment for students to explore New Mexico’s fascinating history surrounding science, technology, art, agriculture and ranching. And as an integral part of New Mexico heritage itself, the State Fair is an ideally dynamic classroom.”
These State Fair visits must be scheduled in advance through Expo New Mexico. Special arrangements for other days can also be made. For more information and an application go to: www.exponm.com or www.exponm.com/fair/whats/SchoolDays.asp or by e-mail at schoolsdays@state.nm.us, or call 505-222-9700 and ask for the “School Days” coordinator. Specific instructions for free parking of buses will be provided upon submission of an application.
