EXPO New Mexico
Q: What’s the difference between EXPO New Mexico and the New Mexico State Fair?
A: EXPO New Mexico is the state agency responsible for the New Mexico State Fair, the Flea Market and other year round activities that take place at the New Mexico State Fairgrounds in Albuquerque.
Q: How does the agency operate?
A: EXPO New Mexico is an enterprise agency, meaning that it is self-sufficient, receiving nothing in the way of taxpayer dollars toward operations. EXPO’s annual operating budget comes directly from events such as the New Mexico State Fair, concerts, a wide variety of art, animal and other shows, and numerous other events that take place at Tingley Coliseum, the Manuel Lujan Complex, fully equipped horse and livestock complexes and various other venues located on the Fairgrounds. The Governor and State Legislature have for the last seven years kindly set aside modest capital monies each year for facility and infrastructure maintenance and improvements.
Q: What kinds of events take place at EXPO between State Fairs?
A: EXPO New Mexico hosts more than 2009 events each and every year. There are venues on the grounds capable of hosting crowds from 10 to 10,000. In addition to being the official Home of the Albuquerque Thunderbirds NBA Developmental League professional basketball team at Tingley Coliseum and the state’s oldest and largest Flea Market, EXPO hosts a wide array of events such as: horse shows, monster truck rallies, automotive dealer special sale events, sporting events, concerts, speaking engagements, bull riding and other rodeo events, art shows, dog shows, arts & crafts shows, children’s summer camps, corporate retreats and many, many more. EXPO is also used extensively as a location for moviemaking by major film companies.
Q: Can I rent space at EXPO for my event?
A: Yes. In fact, hundreds of individuals, promoters and organizations of nearly every kind regularly rent space at one of EXPO’s dozens of full-service venues for their meetings and other events. Just call 505-222-9700 or click on the "Facilites Rental" link on the banner at the top of this page for more information.
Where is the parking located at EXPO, what gates can I use?
Parking can depend upon the nature and location of each specific event, but is generally available – unless otherwise specified – for most non-State Fair events at the following gates: Gate 3 (San Pedro at Copper) and Gate 4 (San Pedro just north of Copper).
Gate 1 (Central just west of Louisiana) is generally open every weekend for Flea Market parking. Gate 6 (San Pedro just south of Lomas) is occasionally used for events taking place in the Horse or Livestock areas of the grounds.
All events with specific gate and parking information are listed on the EXPO New Mexico Main Calendar Page.
How much is parking at EXPO?
General parking is $4 for most non-State Fair events unless otherwise specified.
Parking is subject to change for special events, we are now charging $10.00 for most Tingley events
All parking fees are single day rates.
All events with specific parking information are listed on the EXPO New Mexico Main Calendar Page.
